Communion

Holy Communion is the highest sacrament of the United Methodist Church.  Often called by other names, including the Lord's Supper, the Last Supper and Eucharist, it is one of only two sacraments (along with baptism) recognized by The United Methodist Church because they were the only acts ordained by Christ.  In Holy Communion, we remember and proclaim God's saving work through the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.  We are reminded of the gifts of God's grace and forgiveness and celebrate what God is doing among us and in us.

In the United Methodist Church we practice open table which means Holy Communion is open to all persons.  You do not have to be a member to participate.

Schedule

Communion is typically served the first Sunday of each month; however, there are other times throughout the year and other special services during which we celebrate and remember the Lord's Supper.

The Communion Elements

We're often asked about our communion elements.  We serve King's Hawaiian bread and grape juice during our communion services.  The unique sweetness of the Hawaiian bread can serve as a reminder of the sweet love of our Savior and that all good things come from Him, while the tartness of the juice reminds us of the bitterness of His suffering and death.  As the single loaf is broken during the service, we have a visual cue prompting us to consider that we are one body in Christ and that Christ's sacrifice was for all and His grace is available for everyone.
