Capital District Missions

The Capital District of the UMC in North Carolina coordinates a number of mission and outreach opportunities within our community.  Following the devastation of Hurricane Floyd in 1999 the district, in coordination with the North Carolina Conference of The United Methodist Church made a commitment to help people in need living in Eastern North Carolina. Since its inception, the mission has grown and now includes:

  • Disaster Ministries:  training & preparedness workshops, early response coordination, and long-term recovery coordination
  • Mission Support:  receive, sort, and distribute supplies for local, national, and international mission projects
  • Coordinating area volunteers:  organize teams for local and remote projects, provide logistical support

Members of KUMC regularly volunteer to assist with a variety of projects from packaging goods for distribution to completing local building projects for area residents in need.
